Day Five - Charleston

Today started with a pirate tour of Charleston. The boys learned about the history and influence of pirates in Charleston, the south, and the Caribbean. Bob, the pirate guide's parrot, joined the group at the end. The tour ended at Tommy Condon's Irish Pub where the boys enjoyed fish & chips, shrimp & grits, shepard's pie, and burgers for lunch.

Following some last chance shopping at the market, the group gathered at Liberty Square before boarding a ferry for Fort Sumter. It was nice to sit down for the 30 minute boat ride before arriving at the fort. A park ranger gave the history of Fort Sumpter and the boys were off exploring the nooks and cannons. Dolphins were spotted out in the harbor. The day ended with a drive to Charlotte, North Carolina where they stayed for the night.
